This weekend is for all dancers, not just established partnerships. The level of someone’s dancing is only one part of the equation. What really creates great dancing is connection, communication, trust, and the ability to create something together in the moment. Kicking It Old School is about rediscovering that magic — when two dancers meet on the floor and build something together through the music. Kick It Old School Aug 28–30 | Ragon Hall | Pensacola, Florida Kicking It Old School is a full weekend West Coast Swing event focused on the heart of the dance — partnership. This event brings dancers together for a weekend of learning, connection, and social dancing centered around the idea that great dancing is created when two people work together through the music. Throughout the weekend you can expect a schedule designed to maximize both learning and dancing. Workshops The weekend will feature 12 one-hour open-level workshops centered around partnership topics such as connection, musicality, communication, and movement dynamics. These classes are included with the weekend pass and are designed to give dancers tools they can immediately apply on the social floor. Advanced / All-Star Intensives For higher level dancers looking for a deeper dive, we will also offer three 2-hour Advanced / All-Star intensives. -These intensives are not included in the weekend pass and are limited to 14 dancers per intensive to allow for a focused learning environment and more individual feedback. Strictly Swing with Feedback Instead of traditional competition placements, the weekend will feature leveled Strictly Swing divisions where dancers receive direct feedback from judges. The goal is growth, learning, and gaining insight into your dancing while still enjoying the excitement of a contest format. Social Dancing Expect lots of social dancing throughout the weekend with time built into the schedule between workshops and dancing late into the night. Community & Connection This weekend is about more than just classes and dancing. We’re creating opportunities for the community to connect in unique ways including: • Thursday Night on the Town to kick off the weekend • Friday Morning Beach Day at Pensacola Beach • Staff Q&A / Story Time session where dancers can hear stories, ask questions, and learn from experienced professionals • Fun contests and social activities throughout the weekend Staff...
