SWOP - Old School Jazz meets Old School Hip Hop Dance is a three-day festival in Mainz, Germany that explores the connections between swing and hip hop through workshops, parties and a history talk, focusing on solo dancing while also touching on partner dance. International teachers such as Karl Brochard, Jean Charles Zambo, Marcus Scherf and Minn Vo guide participants through the African roots of the dances and show how to combine the unique elements of swing and hip hop in movement and musicality. The event is organized by Swingin Wiesbaden e.V. and offers a program of classes, jam circles and social dancing aimed at giving dancers more confidence in self-expression and improvisation on the dance floor.
