SF’s original Wednesday night live-music swing dance party — now lighting up Broadway Studios in historic North Beach. http://www.CatsCornerSF.com ABOUT SEAN KRAZIT’S JUNIPER JAZZ BAND Led by saxophonist and swing dancer Sean Krazit, the Juniper Jazz Band digs into the small-group swing and traditional jazz of the 1920s through the ’50s — music inspired by artists including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Lester Young, Johnny Hodges, Louis Jordan, and many more. Sean puts the band together from a rotating cast of excellent Bay Area jazz musicians, with a sound made for social dancing: a strong swinging pulse, plenty of rhythmic space, and arrangements that let the musicians listen and respond to each other rather than simply charging through the tunes. Because Sean knows the dance floor from both sides of the bandstand (as a dancer AND bandleader), Juniper has become a familiar presence at Bay Area Lindy Hop events, balancing relaxed, grooving tempos with plenty of drive when the room is ready to move.
